| The Hudson River is the interstate boundary between the states of New York (with New York City to the east, right of picture) and New Jersey (with Jersey City to the west, left), from a Staten Island ferry in New York Harbour. It is named after Henry Hudson, the English sailor who explored the area in 1609 on behalf of the Dutch East India Company. |
