| Close to the Mole stands the controversial Navy Memorial, erected in 1908 and commemorating the German colony's Expeditionsstreitkräfte (Marine Expeditionary Corps) and their part in the Herero and Nama genocide in 1904. It was visibily defaced in 2015: red paint remnants are still visible on its surface. |
