| The neo-classical Parish Church of Saint Sebastian, on Largo de São Sebastião, was integrated into a former Dominican convent (when the original church on Miradouro de São Sebastião, a short distance away, was destroyed in the 1755 earthquake) in 1821. The convent was originally founded between 1564-6, in a project sponsored by king Sebastian (r. 1557-78). |
