| Bremen cathedral with its 89m-tall towers, at night. When the southern tower collapsed in 1638, it contained eight bells; today both towers together house four bells. The northern tower has three - the oldest surviving is "Maria Gloriosa", cast in 1433 - while the others were melted down for the war effort during WWII. The three remaining bells were donated in 1951 and 1962. |
