Bellevue Palace in Berlin's Tiergarten district, the official residence of the president of Germany from 1994. Located on the banks of the Spree river (off-picture to the right), its name ("beautiful view" in French) derives from the view over it. Built in 1786, it was a royal residence until the fall of the German Empire after WWI, then purchased and rebuilt after WWII by West Germany.
