| To the east of Bremen's Marktplatz (Market Square) stands the twin towers of the Bremen cathedral, dedicated to Saint Peter. Constantly burned down by Viking raiders until they converted to Christianity, the earliest parts of the cathedral date from the 1040s, and the towers from the 13th century. The southern tower collapsed in 1638, and rebuilt nearly 3 centuries later in 1901. |
