| The Soviet Memorial in the Tiergarten district, erected in 1945 months after the Soviet Union's capture of the city at the end of WWII, built from stonework taken from the destroyed Reich Chancellery. Throughout the Cold War, Soviet honour guards from East Berlin were sent to stand watch at the memorial, and is still a site of active commemoration today. |
