| The Victory Column, in the centre of a roundabout in the heart of Tiergarten. Inaugurated in 1873 after its victories in the series of wars leading to the formation of the German Empire in 1871, it is 67m tall, topped with a bronze sculpture of Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory; it survived WWII virtually intact. A spiral staircase leads to a viewing platform under the statue. |
