| The House of World Cultures, in the Tiergarten district, is Germany's national centre for the presentation of international contemporary arts, with a focus on non-European cultures and societies. It was built as the Kongresshalle conference hall in 1957 as a gift from the United States, but its roof fatally collapsed in May 1980; it was rebuilt and reopened in 1987. |
