| New Market Square is a recent eastern extension of Groningen's Grote Markt, which was slated for redevelopment in 2005. The controversial construction of the square and the angular Forum Groningen cultural centre finally opened in 2019, housing a library, cinema, parts of the Groninger Museum, and the city's Tourist Information Centre. |
