| The Kruittoren (Powder tower) in Kronenburger Park, 30m-tall and dating from 1426 as part of Nijmegen's old defensive walls. As the city expanded and the fortifications were sold during the 19th century, the state deliberately kept powder in it to prevent its demolition; the tower was restored in the 1880s and preserved within the newly-created park. |
