| The Gothic brick De Moriaan, standing on the northern edge of Markt (Market Square), is one of the oldest brick houses in the Netherlands, built in 1224 as a private house. It was scheduled for demolition in 1956 to free up more space for traffic: a careful restoration during the 1960s saved it, and it has functioned as the city's Tourist Information Centre since. |
