| In the heart of Den Bosch stands the gothic St. John's Cathedral, named for John the Evangelist and dating from the mid-14th century; the crossing tower (in the cathedral's centre) was replaced with a brick one when it burned down in 1584 and collapsed onto the cathedral, taking the roof with it. In 1830, another fire damaged the western tower (right of picture), repaired by 1842. |
