| In the lower levels of the Basilica of Saint Servatius is the sepulchre (or rock-cut crypt) for the eponymous saint; the basilica was built specifically over it. Through the ages, the presence of this grave - and the many relics in the church treasury - have drawn large numbers of Catholic pilgrims. The church was made a Basilica Minor by pope John Paul II during his visit in 1985. |
