| Looking down the central nave of the Basilica of Saint Servatius, built over the grave of, and dedicated to, an Armenian missionary who was bishop of nearby Tongeren (now in Belgium) and died allegedly in Maastricht in 384AD. The present-day building dates from the 11th century: its dedication in 1039 was attended by Holy Roman emperor Henry III. |
