| In the northern transept of the Basilica of Saint Servatius stands the noodkist, or reliquary shrine of Saint Servatius, made between 1166-95. It is an oak chest covered in gold-plated copper and holds the remains of the saint, originally placed behind the high altar. It is carried through the city streets every seven years during the Heiligdomsvaart (Procession of Holy Relics). |
