| Looking south-east from Calton Hill to Arthur's Seat, an extinct volcano about 1.5km east of Edinburgh Castle (situated on Castle Rock, the city's other volcanic remnant). It rises to a height of 250m, provides excellent panoramic views of the city, is relatively easy to climb, and is popular for hillwalking. Holyrood Palace is just visible (far-left of picture) across from Parliament (left). |
