| Standing on The Mound - earthworks separating West Princes Street Gardens (far side) from East Princes Street Gardens (this side) - are the neo-classical Scottish National Gallery (the "National", left of picture, fine-arts gallery dating from 1859) and the Royal Scottish Academy (right, arts museum dating from 1826). Exhibition space is open throughout the year in both institutes. |
